New  Books Alive! For Kids®

Television Show

Learning Through Art, Inc. presents Books Alive! For Kids® educational television program, which first premiered on Local 12 primetime at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2007.

On the first Sunday of each month, the CinCW will air Books Alive! For Kids® at 8:30 a.m. at its regularly-scheduled time. Each episode is based on a hand-selected book, and is driven by the topic of the book. Books Alive! For Kids® incorporates a hands-on craft and live presentation, which can be purchased online.

The first program features Don Carter's book, "Heaven's All-Star Jazz Band," which tells the story of a little boy's discovery of Jazz music. The boy, played by Craig "CJ" Thompson, is visited by a Jazz vocalist (Kathy Wade), who teaches him about the rich history of Jazz, the joy in the sounds of the Jazz greats, as well as the key lesson that books can transport you anywhere.

Following each broadcast, Books Alive! For Kids® will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in streaming video at www.cincyscape.com, increasing the reach of the program and learning opportunities for children of all ages at home, in classrooms and libraries worldwide.

Books Alive! For Kids® is a national award-winning literary performing arts program targeting students from pre-school through third grade, with an emphasis on urban and rural schools. LTA's Books Alive! For Kids® program has presented 26 books in 9 years at 8 tri-state schools, serving nearly 4,000 students during its tenure. Books Alive! For Kids® is designed to enhance childhood development in the areas of creative thinking, writing, reading, art and music in three highly interactive sessions, engaging participants from an early age in the process of learning.

The program, television show and resources on www.cincyscape.com work in tandem to present a book, craft and performing arts presentation, which reinforce learning through the utilization of the key learning senses: sight, sound and touch.
