The How and Why of Trauma-Informed Teaching via Edutopia

Studies show that almost half of U.S. students have experienced adverse childhood experiences, referred to as ACEs. Therefore, it is important for educators to have the training and background knowledge on how to work with this population to develop meaningful relationships that support these students. This article recommends three tips for trauma-informed teaching: 1) Know your students, 2) Use the whole school approach, and 3) Meaningful relationships start with teacher mindfulness, with themselves and their students.
