Join LTA and Books Alive! For Kids® as we share the magic of our NEA Big Read with all our friends at the Cincinnati Parks for our Celebration and Poetry Slam at the Krohn Conservatory!

On the evening of Thursday, June 11th from 6-8 pm, we will celebrate our NEA Big Read selection, You Are Here; Poetry in the Natural World, by Ada Limón, the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States! This event will take place under the big tent to the right of the front entrance to the Krohn Conservatory. This event is intentionally in tandem with the Krohn’s Destination Monarch Butterfly Show! Explore the show and join our celebration as we gather within the beautiful Cincinnati Parks system and share in the healing joy of nature (and theme of the NEA Big Read) as we connect to who we are and where we are, through the art of poetry. A Poetry Slam will feature the selected artists and creators who answered the call to creatively respond to the poems contained within this collection of work, through events which have taken place along riverside communities in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Feel creative but didn't know about the FREE copies of our NEA Big Read book? No worries! We've got you covered, and you may still have a chance to step up to the mic!

The evening will showcase:

A Poetry Slam inspired by “You Are Here”
A DJ
A center hub for families to respond creatively to our NEA Big Read books as well as NEA Big Read books on hand for event guests
A monitor for guests to view the kickoff event featuring a community group of panelists and special guest, Ada Limón running on loop with closed captions.
Projected works of poetry submissions, artwork responses, and images from our NEA Big Read events around the tristate.
