Sounds From The River comes to Jazz in the Camp at the American Sign Museum hosted by Jazz Alive!

  • American Sign Museum 1330 Monmouth Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio, 45225 United States (map)

Experience the two-time, regional EMMY nominated, original production of Sounds From The River by Learning Through Art, Inc. powered by America's River Roots.

Sounds From The River is an immersive journey connecting America's musical evolution to its waterways. SFTR transports audiences on a journey across the shores of Africa and Europe to the Caribbean and into North America via the Mississippi and its tributaries. The program will feature an infusion of genres from the first drumbeat in Africa to the Indigenous of the Americas, to spirituals, gospel, blues, jazz, bluegrass, country and zydeco. Sounds From The River depicts this journey through the narration by National Storyteller, Omobe Carter Daboiku, who has recently received a regional EMMY nomination for her performance, alongside another EMMY nomination for Learning Through Art, Inc. for the entire production! Musical arrangements will be guided by Jason Alexander Holmes of the May Festival and the Sounds From The River band, with choreography by David Choate and the Revolution Dance Theatre!
